The Weeknd Hits the Road in his First Major Tour With A Crowdsourced Backing Band

A little over a year ago, a mystery mixtape was released by an unknown Canadian music artist called The Weeknd. Titled ‘House of Balloons’, this mixtape catapulted The Weeknd, other wise known as lyricist Abel Tesfaye, into musical history with its driving trip hop bass lines and lyrics dripping in sexual undertones. He captivated his audience by keeping a low-profile on who he was and focused more on his music. Bending the rules of the music industry into a new paradigm, he released three full mixtapes within less than a year and created a fervent loyal fan base.
