Pop and Cock It: Rockers Mother Feather Tear Down the House at the Brooklyn Bowl

Sometimes you have the luck of stumbling upon a magical band, consisting of proportions that are beyond the spectrum of mediocre performance. In such a lucky circumstance, you must run with vigor towards the experience with open arms, shouting to the winds of the music industry, “THE WORLD IS NOT DEAD OF ART AND SPONTANEITY.” Your shouts may be drowned out by the sweat dripping off the vocal chords of not one but two female vixens that could tear your heart out by just a simple glance. Match it with a heightened sexualized energy that permeates the crowd into awkward gyrations and trance-like robotic dance moves, and you have the perfect recipe for NYC’s own self-proclaimed “pop cock-rock” band, Mother Feather.

Boiled down to simply a perfected theatrical experience, Mother Feather is a well-oiled rock machine that will get you into baby-making mode instantly. Casting spells left and right, lead singer Ann Courtney and vocalist/keyboardist Lizzy Carena keep you on your toes with synchronized dance moves and immaculate harmonies, while the boys in the back, Matt Basile, Chris Foley and Gunnar Olsen, pull up the rest of the band with rockstar-like ease.

This past weekend, this five-piece tore down the house at the Brooklyn Bowl during one of the better non-fashion fashion events of New York Fashion Week. The band has a way of tying in fashion with their modern-flashy-cock-glam rock by way of Courtney and Carena donning goods made by independent rock n’ roll designers, including Lindsay Hearts’ noted handmade MF leather jacket for Courtney (which should be seen in their upcoming music video).

Fierce band. Fierce music. Fierce fashion. Mother Feather has it all.
