London Fashion Week - Day 1 and 2
Somerset House, which looms over the North Bank of the Thames is peaceful for around 50 weeks of the year; the eighteenth century building usually being used for exhibitions. The architecture of the house is very much 'London' - big, flamboyant and most of all beautiful. For two weeks of every year, though, the people of the city come together for Fashion Week. It's big, flamboyant and beautiful, too.
Somerset house isn't just about the catwalk shows - although everyone from dress giant Vivienne Westwood to tailoring giant Burberry have showed there. The house offers budding fashionistas design exhibitions, showcases of film and mixed media, and a chance to see all of the designers on the big screen. It's a celebrity spotting day, although mostly it isn't the celebrities who grab the attention of the press. This is why LFW is so magical - because it's for everyone and everyone. I went down to check out some of the amazing street style and designs on Days 1 and 2.
